After the temple, we drove to the Ostrich farm which is just only 3 minutes away. This ostrich farm is owned by a Singaporean Colin, who used to be an pilot. So now retired, he opened this ostrich farm in Desaru as a post-retirement job. The farm is huge and there are 300 ostriches living there now. The older ostriches are kept in a larger area and the younger ones are kept in smaller paddocks in the viewing/demo area for us to see.
I think ostriches are very scary. Some are very fierce and they look at you with their humongus eyes. There is 1 particular ostrich that was in a bad mood and we went to try to take pictures with it, it would swivel around on his long neck and look at us with his beak open. The ostrich even tried to go and peck some of the pple. But I think the ostrich was sensitive to blue color, as it only attacked those wearing blue (including me) and those with blue handbags.
Comparing the 2 faces of the ostriches that I took, the one in the foreground, with the side view... shows the ostrich as a very sharp animal and its eyes seem to be boring into you. And its mouth is open, ready to bite anything that comes near. So scary... But... I can't say the same for the ostrich in the back ground. Looking at the ostrich from its front... eh... I think it looks like a duck and... it also looks like a total joke.

Mazu Temple
After Jusco, we went for our Lobster seafood lunch. Got 1 lobster for each one of us, got prawn, crab, chicken, fish, tofu... Okay la.... Not bad...
After lunch, we went to the nearby Mazu temple to pray. Sugoii ne. This temple is built by the South China Sea to protect the fisherman and villages there. The photo shows the temple. A small one but very clean and well kept. I think a lot of pple visit it regularly. I remember the tour guide saying that this temple is quite well-known.
This shows the scenery from the side of the temple. Looks like Hawaii desho? Much of the seaside in Desaru is like that. Very beachy, relaxing feeling. Maybe should go back and stay in the resort there.
These are taken of Kwan Yang while he was waiting for the toilet. So poor thing, so urgent already but still pose for me. Very sweet and nice boy. The photos... OK la... not as nice as what Staci take, but Kwan Yang still looks good.

Shots from Staci Ng
These shots were taken from the same Desaru trip by my friend Staci Ng. I think her photos are very good. She has taken shots of children portfolio, weddings, etc. If you are interested in Staci taking photos of your wedding or of your children, let me know!
Kwan Yang is very photogenic. Staci took about 5 shots of him and all turned out nice.
Here is Kwan Jun, terrified of the ostriches.

Setting off for Desaru
Super looked forward to this trip to get a break off work. Happy that Sat is finally after a bad week at work. But reporting time was way too early... We had to be at Golden Mile Complex at 6am to check-in and the bus left at 6.30am. Photo of a sunrise taken on the way to the Tuas checkpoint.
We stopped by at Queen Park coffee shop for breakfast and I ate my yummy porridge. Ravenous after waking up so early and after all the hassle to reach the coffee shop. After breakfast, we took a 45min bus ride to Jusco.
Jusco is a Japanese shopping centre and we visited the Tebrau City one which is newly opened. It is very big and built like a shopping mall in the US. Beside Jusco, there is even an amusement park with ferris wheel and roller coaster. We went into the Jusco area for some shopping, but we found the items a little over-priced. A shirt for RM69 which costs even more than in Singapore. We ventured out into the centre section and found many more shops. 3rd floor is mainly made up of restaurants and Jusco's third level. There were many more interesting shops on the 2nd floor instead. I would recommend to go to "The Reject Shop" which is almost at the end of the 2nd floor. It is very factory outlet like and there is a wide range of tees, blouses, slacks, jeans and childrens' clothing. After we found the wide range of clothing, we were suddenly caught in the mad rush to try out the clothes in only 20mins. I finally managed to pick out 3 blouses and Staci took 6 pairs of slacks. Very good buy. We managed to finish everything, then even grabbed another 2 bags, before rushing back to the bus at exactly our assembly time of 11am.

Tour Highlights!
The 4th and 6th days were the highlights of our trip. Why??? Becos it's SMAP concerts! Hahahahahahahaha!!!!! These 2 were the happiest days for my past year. Here's what I posted in Japan after the concerts - Fri Sep 10th and Sun Sep 12th, esp the concert on the 12th... Happiest day of my life! Even till now, can't really believe it. It happened so fast and so short. But it did happened! Aaahhhh~
These pictures were very hurriedly taken when we went to buy concert goods on the 10th. They are quite strict about copyright so there was this guy who came running up to us when he saw our camera. As usual, like previous years, there will be stalls lined up outside the dome to sell the concert goods. Specific stalls will sell only certain goods so you have to line up a couple of times to get what you want. Selling starts at about 12.30pm so we managed to finish everything at around 2pm, went back to the hotel to bathe and have a heavy meal and then we set out at 4pm for the concert.
The concert usually starts at 6pm. The boys will rehearse in the morning so sometimes if you go early, you can hear the concert rehersal going on. Seating starts at 4pm, where people start to stream in and start queuing for the toilet. Toilet queues are 45mins long, so if there are 2 of you, either you go tog and leave ur stuff on the seats, or allow 1h30mins so that both can go toilet. But the queuing system is very good. Cos its a baseball dome, most of the male toilets are converted to female ones and there will be at least 2 or 3 staff pple manning the toilet queue. The queue will snake ard 3 staircases and you will definitely freak out at the sight of it if you have only 15mins before the start of the concert. Concert will start on the dot and last for about 4hrs. 4hrs of bliss~ and pure entertainment and pure excitement... Wont say too much on this... Else this post will never end... Those of you who have been to a Smap concert will know how it is... Haahaa~...

Shionomisaki Lighthouse 潮岬灯台
Okaayy.... Back to the 3rd day of my Jap trip...
After getting past all the spiders and being scorched by the sun, we finally reached the light house. Entrance free is 150yen (~Sin2 bucks). And here is the sight the behold us - the Shionomisaki Lighthouse 潮岬灯台. The white Shionomisaki lighthouse standing on the cliff at 80m above sea level has been protecting ships heading out to sea for over 100 years since the 6th year of the Meiji era. Lighthouse height 19.55m, light power 130 kandera, max distance of light seen 19 nautical miles.
There is an exhibition hall at the ground floor of the lighthouse, showing the different types of lamps used to light the sea over the years, and also pictures of the lighthouse through the ages. There is another entrance that leads to a stairway. We climbed up 68 steps to reach near the top of the lighthouse. There was this steep rusty ladder that went up further. We precariously made our way to the top and came out to the barred area near the top as seen in the photo. The magnificent view of the Pacific Ocean laid before our eyes. It was breathtaking. We tried to walk around the top, but some parts were too squeezy to go through. As much as I like the view, I didnt want to risk falling to my death, so I gave up and took pics from 270deg of the lighthouse. Haahaa~... Here's part of the Pacific Ocean view from the lighthouse... A little small when posted here, but you can click on it to see it bigger... Will post some more shots later...
This is the interior of the lighthouse... I think it is very nicely done up and safe to walk... A little dark though, wonder what kind of wood they use to make the walls. It was nice to walk up the steps... There was a little window to look out when we climbed. But we got a little dizzy going round and round. 68 steps to climb, got a little breathless around the halfway mark. Think its the shape of the stairs and the steepness... But still ok.
But I cant say the same for the ladder and the opening to climb out. Obviously its built for the small Japanese people and whose feet are small enough to step on the rungs... Look at how steep it was and how small the steps are! Almost fell to our deaths coming down...
